Hi, I waited until the announcement on the webpage and the files I downloaded were from 7.1 directories, so I'm guessing that I was using the final 7.1 files. First attempt was with hd.img install. Floppy booted ok, but the install program labeled itself "Cooker". Not a show-stopper, but as you can see it creates doubt about the version. I tried to install from my ext2 /dev/hda2 /mandrake dir where I had the files. The install program could read the directories, but when I tried to install, it would bomb saying that it couldn't find a file (or procedure?). Didn't record the error code (sorry!). My directory was the right size -- just over a gigabyte. Second attempt was with a downloaded mandrake71-inst.iso. The install bombed due to lacking packages (I'm assuming they're on the mandrake71-ext.iso), and then the install died because it couldn't go into SVGA mode. The webpage says that I can install using just the first cd. I don't think so, unless there is a trick to the installation. Feature issue: I _really_ like the GRUB boot-loader, but it'd be nice if the install looked at my old lilo boot info and migrated it. Please Cc: me on replies as I am not subscribed to the list. Thanks. Saber Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED] ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
