But I want to test Winbind joining the domain (which occurs at the end of the installation after the network card is setup) with RC1 ... >>>And what if instead putting back the old line, you remove the # >>>in front of the manfid line, line #796? >> >>I tried that first, no dice. >> >>>It seems though that in >>>the file, it's either version or manfid, bot both, dunno why :/. >>>Is it because "version" is supposed to be enough for detecting >>>your card, I don't know.. Yes, it still works like this: - --- /etc/pcmcia/config 2003-04-17 18:53:06.000000000 +0200 +++ /etc/pcmcia/config.working 2003-08-29 14:26:50.000000000 +0200 @@ -796,6 +796,11 @@ #manfid 0xffff, 0x1090 bind "pcnet_cs" +card "Surecom EP-427X 16bit 100/10M Ethernet Card" + version "CouplerlessPCMCIA", "100BASE" + #manfid 0xffff, 0x1090 + bind "pcnet_cs" + card "Asix AX88190 Fast Ethernet" version "Fast Ethernet", "16-bit PC Card", "*", "AX88190" #manfid 0x0149, 0xc1ab BTW, in drakconnect, the message "Installing driver for network/main|gigabit|usb|pcmcia card Surecom EP-427X 16 bit 100/10M Ethernet Card" is shown, but so fast it's impossible to read (it took me 10 tries to take a screenshot so I could read it). In the next screen, the only info displayed is "Configuring network device eth0 (driver pcnet_cs)" is shown. It would really be more useful if the info shown in the previous screen were shown here, then you would be able to identify cards more easily, especially when you have multiple cards using the same driver. Then maybe I could get out of the habit of writing the MAC address on all network cards in machines running Mandrake ...
