ok

I've tried several times this week to install 7.1 from the network
(about 6-7 times). I'm not willing to try again until some stuff gets
fixed, anyway here are a few tips to improve it:
During the package selection process I got several "An error as occured:
Died." After going into the console, I saw it happening in two cases,
but at the same spot:

* running: extract_archive /tmp/.. /mnt/... cpio-2.4.2-15mdk ..
getty-ps-2.0.7j-11mdk
* warning: Died at /usr/perl-install/ftp.pm line 42

* segmentation fault on transaction
.... a shitload of segmentation fault messages
* segmentation fault on transaction
* warning: Died at /usr/perl-install/ftp.pm line 42

After looking at ftp.pm, I think it's because the ftp download failed,
or timed out etc. My connection is not that good, but it's not that bad
either. However when this happens it seems the install can
continue/resume it's work. But when all is installed I get a message
like "some important packages could not be installed" and I can't go
further.
So: network installation needs to work even if a few downloads fail,
that is auto-retry to get the files or something. Also: I'd like to see
more information about the download: wether I'm logged in on the ftp,
what is the progression etc. It seems the progress bars during install
are stalled or display wrong information. If a package fails and you
restart installing, it seems it restarts from where it failed, but the
remaining packages information keeps saying full install.
What would be VERY neat is an option to resume installation. I'm on a
LAN, and when I see the connection gets too bad I'd just like to exit
the install and resume later.

hope this helps
