In KWord:

When changes are made to a document, a little floppy disk icon appears on the task bar
entry for that instance of kword. When you save the document, the floppy disk icon
goes away, until such time you edit the file again, in which case it reappears to let
you know there are unsaved changes in the current document.

The above all works well and good when you let KWord save files in its native .kwd
format. However, if you ask it to save as a different format, such as plain text or
*any* of the formats listed, then it does NOT update the floppy disk icon in the task
bar entry. The floppy disk icon is present all the time, whether the document has been
altered or not.
Additionally, when you exit Kword, it tells you the document has not been saved even
when it has.

Note: the actual save process does work, ie changes are written to disk, but the
floppy disk icon in the task bar is never updated.
