description:
In 2001, Richard Stallman and Jacques Le Marois have agreed that future releases
of Mandrake Linux would introduce the user to the danger of software patents by
a special screen during the installation process. However, this feature has not
been integrated, to my knowledge. Is it due to a change in policy, or lack of time ?

The announce (in French) about the agreement can be read here ; it was written
by Loic Dachary, head of the FSF France :
http://infos.samizdat.net/article.php3?id_article=75

A text in English describing the general idea of "software against software
patents" has also been written by the same Loic Dachary :
http://france.fsfeurope.org/news/article2001-06-26-01.en.html

As an author and supporter of free software, and a Mandrake Linux user, I am
strongly in favor of such a feature which would also underline the commitment of
Mandrake to free software philosophy.
