Product: Installation
Component: Installation
Summary: [MDK 9.2 RC1] Why installation requires to format
partitions?
Product: Installation
Version: 1.829
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Platform: x86
Release: Mandrake Linux 9.2 RC1
Language: English (en_US) (problable affects all languages)
Installation Type: default installation.
Hardware: 2 harddisks, with existing partitions filling all space. There are
two formated and empty partitions that will be used for the installation.
Problem: I select [1] the existing empty partitions (hdb1 and hdb6) to install
(hdb1 -> / , hdb6 -> /usr ). They are formated to ext2 filesystem type. The "Do
you want to format the partitions?" marks for formating / and /usr . If you
uncheck them, it complains that /usr should be formated. I go ahead, format
them, and (because of another problem) I end in the partitions screen again. So
now they are formated by diskdrake. And again, selecting the partitons for
install, diskdrake complains if I do not want to format them.
[1] This happens if I select any of the "use existing partitions" or select
the "custom partitioning" options.
Also, if I select some of the existing partitions to be mounted on /opt , /tmp
, /mnt/musica etc , the format screen showns all the partitions selected
except the "/" partition. "/usr" is shown and marked to format.
