Have you tried the new install for Helix Gnome?  I was
very impressed.  I typed a short command in a terminal
window and a very nice graphical installer can up on
the screen.  I really think that this installer was
even easier than a Windoze install file or
WindozeUpdate.  Helix also has a built-in updater. 
I'm very impressed with the install and upgrade
utilities and hope that more programs will follow
Helix's model.
