Installation boots fine but averything stops right after the "Enabling PCMCIA
Extension Cards" on Alt-F1. One cannot switch VT's as the keyboard is unresponsive.
On Alt-F2, the blinking cursor disappears.
On Alt-F3, the last few lines are:

This happens whether through rescue mode, or install/upgrade.
I had to reboot each time and switch to each vt as soon as I could to catch the
errors before the lockup.
