description:
I've tried installing Mandrake 9.0 RC3 onto my 40 gig hard drive.

I used "recommended" and "install" options followed by "custom disk
partitioning" ( note no help at bottom of screen indicated on this option ).

I selected advance mode for parititioning. I deleted my existing partition
hda13 and created 3 new ext3 partitions hda13 for /boot, hda14 for / and
hda15 for /home. I reused hda5 for swap. When I attempted to format hda13
the tool said writing new partition table and then indicated "Need to
reboot for partition table to take effect". I rebooted, but this has never
happened to me before on any other Mandrake installs. Is this correct ?

After rebooting, the install started again. At the disk partitioning
section again, my new partitions were there but the file system type was
wrong for hda14 and hda15, they were ext2 and not ext3 and also
unformatted. After changing the file systems for hda14 and hda15, I
formated them OK.

I selected done to complete the partitioning and a new pop-up indicated
which partitions were to be formatted. At this stage it indicated hda14 and
hda15 for formatting but these were already formatted. I think the tool
should of realised that no formating was required.

Anyway accepting, the pop-up with hda13 not selected, and hda14 and hda15
selected for formatting, it then came up with some errors about hda13 which
were too quick to read and threw me back to the start of the partitioning
again.

This time around the partitioning tool indicated hda13, hda14 and hda15
were formatted when I rentered the mount points. Pressing done, it did not
ask to format any partitions and continued with the install.
