Hi There,
I have a 3 year old laptop with internal 6 GHD and external 80GHD
External HardDisk is connected to a Belkin Cardbus wich makes 2 USB2 slots
from one pcmcia slot.
80G connected(USB2 ) to Belkin cardbus (USB2 - PCMCIA).
During installation Harddrake finds Hda and sda.
You can create or name the mount points on existing partitions on sda.
After Installation a real USB (1) camera (creative webcam) is found.
And also a 6 in 1 card reader writer (you know memory stick Compactflash)
The external HD moves from sda to sdb all settings in /etc/fstab are fault.
If I place this"options scsi_mod max_scsi_luns=4 "line in /etc/modules.conf
The external harddisk will move from sda to sde.
So the first reboot will fail because of this and the booting program wil ask
to correct the errors on /dev/sda or enter the root password to do
maintenance. Do the second and correct the /etc/fstab.
Also to have the sdb or sde entry you have to alter the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
files. Pcmcia has to start before usb
I found a solution that works!
On line 25 of /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit I placed the following 2 lines
# Starting Pcmcia early
/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
I know it's ugly but I saves my day in Mandrake 9.1 unfortunately it doesn't
always does it in Mandrake 9.2 seems the booting goes to fast!
PLease comment on this one
Kind regards
Guy Forssman
