Product: KDE
Component: KDE
Summary: CDROM and Floppy desktop links don't work in KDE
Product: KDE
Version: 3.1.3-69mdk
Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: KDE
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
9.2RC1, in KDE added desktop links for the CD-ROM and Floppy drive (right-click
on desktop, select new, select CD-ROM drive, etc.). The icons/links are created
and displayed, but on trying to access them an error message is displayed
stating that only root can mount device none.
I'm assuming this is a supermount issue, because in /etc/fstab, none is listed
in the first field for these drives. If supermount is disabled, the error
message changes to only root can mount device /dev/hdc. Disabling supermount
also created the problem of having to manually edit the desktop file to put
/dev/hdc in as the device name as it doesn't show up under the dropdown list for
the devices (when creating the desktop link).
So, either way, with supermount or without, creating the desktop link for a
CD-ROM or Floppy drive doesn't allow it to be mounted.
