------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-08-09 00:29 ------- I did a proper install, and I got a irq routing error, that also prevented the sound driver from working. I turned acpi off, and this solved the irq error, so now dmesg returns this mysterious message .... Mounted devfs on /dev Freeing unused kernel memory: 152k freed Real Time Clock Driver v1.10e usb.c: registered new driver usbdevfs usb.c: registered new driver hub usb-uhci.c: $Revision: 1.275 $ time 11:34:48 Aug 25 2003 usb-uhci.c: High bandwidth mode enabled usb-uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0xd800, IRQ 19 usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1 hub.c: USB hub found hub.c: 2 ports detected usb-uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0xdc00, IRQ 19 usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 2 hub.c: USB hub found hub.c: 2 ports detected usb-uhci.c: v1.275:USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver usbdevfs: remount parameter error EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,1), internal journal Adding Swap: 506008k swap-space (priority -1) hub.c: new USB device 00:11.2-1, assigned address 2 usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-110) hub.c: new USB device 00:11.2-1, assigned address 3 usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-110) SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 hdd: attached ide-scsi driver. .... Now I'm not sure if this can be fixed, or if it' s better to debug acpi and load the driver using irq routing via acpi, please some kernel guru look into this, I don't want to use me laptop as a dsl router for ever. BTW as I've said this works perfectly with the 2.4.20 kdernel that comes with suse 8.2 live cd, so it isn't a problem impossible to solve. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: On my acer aspire 1700+ with MDK 9.2rc1 the usb ports dont work. I had this problem with MDK 9.1 too.lsusb returns a nice 0x00000 even with my webcam and speedtouch modem plugged in. Adding pci usb ports has the same result. I know these ports are from VIA,and they work perfectly with suse live cd 8.2 (That uses kernel 2.4.20). I think it could be a bus system problem, as in MDK 9.1 sound did't work even if it installed and loaded the drivers, and this works with the suse live cd too, Im installing KDE and will report on sound as soon as I can. Please try and fix this, without usb I loose my modem, mywebcam, my printer and my scanner. I can send more info on the chips, just let me know how to get it (Cat something in proc, run a script, whatever)
