I tracked the problem down and found the problem in ~/GNUStep/Defaults/WMMail.

There "MailboxHasInternalData" was "Yes" where it should have been "No".

So my patch is obsolete but I think it would be good to change
"MailboxHasInternalData" to "No" because it is unlikely that standard users
have internal data (eg. IMAP related) in their mbox files.
