           Product: Installation
         Component: Installation
Summary: Installer fails to create boot floppy in LM9.2rc1
           Product: Installation
           Version: 1.827
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Installation
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I installed from a CD on a system with a single hard drive (linux only). In
the step where the bootloader is installed, The boot device list included a
"/dev/fd0" which I assumed to be a floppy disk. I put a writable floppy disk
into the floppy drive and pressed ok. It showed the floppy disk being
accessed. So I thought the boot floppy has been created.

After the install was complete, I tried to boot from the floppy but it did not
boot from it !! In fact, the system went straight to the text LILO menu
(presumably read from the hard drive) where I tried to select the option for
booting from floppy but that failed too and it simply returned to the lilo
screen.

Several questions can be raised:

1) What does the boot device "/dev/fd0" mean to a newbie ? It would be better
if instead its written as "floppy (/dev/fd0)".

2) Why does boot floppy creation fail ?

Currently, its impossible to create a boot floppy at install time.
