description:
I installed 9.2rc1 last weekend. I have chosen a fresh, clean install (not
update) to get rid of old programs not using anymore. After installation I
wanted to mount my home partitiong which relies on a lvm partition.

I mentioned a slower machine as with Mandrake 9.1 and LVM utils were also
terrible slow (up to nearly unusable). I checked the systems settings and found
that lilo loads the kernel without the 'devfs=mount' option. That's different to
the installation by Mandrake 9.1. After append this to in lilo.conf and
rebooting the system and LVM were great fast and I was also able to set up LVM
properly to get my home partition mounted.

Why was the line(s) "append='devfs=mount'" removed from lilo.conf or the Boot
tools from Mandrake?
