Perhaps you at Mandrakesoft already know, but here is a document http://www.betips.net/challenge/challenge.html that offer an experiment to try out to see which of BeOS and Linux seems best suited to an end user. You should read it and imagine doing it (or really do it). It reveals where efforts have to be done. Mandrake has already done a great (and successful) deal of efforts, but some things still need to be done. (Actually, a good part of what remains to be done lies in the guts of the Desktop, I think of things like file-application association and its customization by user. It would be worthy to post this kind of mail to other discussion group related to the user interface, for example kde and gnome developpers discussion list, wouldn't it ?) See also the next mail I'll send to cooker. Does a more powerful, and multiuser, system, has to be more difficult to use/configure ? Maybe yes, maybe no. But anyway Linux has to (and will) keep customizable far beyond any fine-tuned but non-adaptable proprietary OS. -- Stphane Gourichon - Laboratoire d'Informatique de Paris 6 - quipe AnimatLab "Bonjour, je suis un virus de signature de mail. [Cooker] An interesting source of comparison.
