           Product: Installation
         Component: Installation
Summary: Wrong ownership of user home directory in
                    LM9.2rc1/LM9.2rc2
           Product: Installation
           Version: 1.827
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Installation
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This problem was there in LM9.2rc1 and is also there in LM9.2rc2.

- I did a clean install (NOT an upgrade). The partition / is formatted while
/home is kept intact. During installation, only non-root user added is "ndeb".

- After installation is complete, the system is rebooted and I login as user
"ndeb" only to find that the ownership of /home/ndeb (and all files in it)
belongs to user with UID 502, which is different from user "ndeb" because
/etc/group shows this one entry:
        ndeb:x:501:

Also, there is _no_ UID 502 in /etc/group or /etc/passwd .
Naturally, I can't read many files in my own home directory!! The only way out
is to be root and change the ownership of /home/ndeb to ndeb using "chmod -R".

This problem was not there in LM9.2beta 1 and 2.
