           Product: initscripts
         Component: initscripts
Summary: infinite boot stall on 'starting SMB services'
           Product: initscripts
           Version: 7.06-24mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: initscripts
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

rc2 install on clean / partition, old /boot & /home partitions. No additional
users created during the install, only the defaults. Package selection of
categories only, no individual packages selected. Selected: all on left column
except multimedia, games, and scientific; none on right except network server
and KDE. On very first boot after successful install, boot never finished. Last
startup message was 'starting SMB services'.

On CAD restart I edited Grub to start runlevel 2, then boot succeeded and I
changed /etc/samba/smb.conf from the default workgroup to an existing workgroup
on the local network. I then rebooted to runlevel 5 normally.
