Product: Installation
Component: Installation
Summary: Upgrade hung without feedback
Product: Installation
Version: 1.834
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Upgrade failed partially. I.e. I got a working system, but not fully working.
The initial installation was 9.1 plus "select" stuff from PLF and TEXSTAR and
some old redhat packages. The culprit I believe was the Texstar KDE 3.1.3 RPMS.
During installation a number of messages on VT3 scrolled by saying that
dependencies check failed.
The serious part is that the installation hung on CD2 without any feedback in
the GUI. The failure to install any packages should be reported along with
hints on where to find information on how to proceed. In my case it was to
restart the installation and then install a lot of KDE packages manually.
Here are the messages (retyped from a camera image).
getFile xine-....
_XSetInputFocus
(repeat)
transactions done, now trying to close still opened fd
getFile XXX:
