------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-09 17:42 ------- In 9.2RC1 I have what i think is the same problem. The login manager (not sure if the default is kdm/gdm/) produces a message saying that a session directory doesn't exist. If I try and log on, I get an unmanaged terminal window. it is possible to launch gnome-session manually from the terminal, and carry on as I wish, but obviously this is certainly not ideal. # /usr/sbin/chksession -l GNOME IceWM Sawfish default failsafe # /usr/sbin/chksession -k SessionTypes=GNOME,IceWM,Sawfish, failsafe, default Not sure if that has anything to do with anything. What is the session directory that it refers to? Can I just manually create it and resolve the issue that way? Will install RC2 tonight and see if the problem continues. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: mdkkdm does not show desktop managers which I have available in the installation and fails to log in. I have tested with normal users and root. Urpmi update to 9.1-29mdk did not help either. Error can be seen by making following steps 1) select user and enter password 2) screen flashes and mdkkdm login window reappears In addition MDKKDM does not show desktops which are available in the Session types combo-box and shows only following two - default, failsafe I do have several other desktops available and even chksession will recognice them if I run it from the command line /usr/sbin/chksession -l KDE GNOME Blackbox IceWM AfterStep default failsafe I have tried to define desktop environment variable into my /etc/sysconfig/desktop but it does not help with the mdkkdm. (DESKTOP=GNOME) If I set my displaymanager to XDM in the /etc/sysconfig/desktop it will allow me to log in. Mika
