This is a strange argument - if I want to keep something secret, I will not post it on an obscure web site and hope that nobody notices. If you want to do a press release, you prepare everything, send the PR to the news outlets and then put it up on the web page under "news" or "press releases" or whatever.

That's exactly what they didn't do, IMHO :-)
Finally, I think, that this discussion is moot, since the corrected information was published and we can hope (and spread the word to help it), that the news of Mandrake becoming an 'adware' will die quickly.
