the problem seems to come from linuxconf.
- I made a grep "init 1" -R /etc, which gave me a line doing some test for
/sbin/askrunlevel int /etc/rc,
- I found this is provided by linuxconf package through rpmdrake,
- I installed linuxconf.
-> problem does not occure anymore.
BUT linuxconf is in Contrib ! The system should be able to boot correctly
without it !
If i remove linuxconf, the problem comes back...

my 9.1 system was updated to RC1 and then to latest cooker this morning.
since RC1, the system boots, prints "entering runlevel 5" and immediatly prints
"runlevel 1" and go single user, logged as root without asking for a password.
