I don't know if this is still valid, but the bugreport is broken, since it is
actually 2 bugreports:
1: restart from mdkkdm wasn't restarting the machine
2: the nv driver interacts badly with the framebuffer console (this seems to be
the case in 9.2 as well, but I have yet to try this on rc2. A similar problem
happened to me during the install of rc2 on this laptop.

When I choose restart from the mdkkdm, I get garbage on my screen (see URL for
hardware description). Also the machine doesn't restart. Halt does seem to work.
I'm not using the nVidia drivers or a custom kernel on this machine (yet).
In the garbaged situation I can login and restart (blind of course) using the
reboot command.
