Or, maybe the changes were made to try and convince maintainers to make
packages that Gwenole, Stefan and the other 64bit guys have to fix all
the time, and to avoid dependence on API-versions no longer in the
distro (so in the end it is less work, since in future you won't have to
 modify the BuildRequires when we have libldap3).

Yes, instead you should use "ldap-devel >= 2.0.0" or similar.
