Install apache2-mod_ssl, then mod_ssl, then uninstall mod_ssl and you get: 
 
Syntax error on line 44 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/41_mod_ssl.default-vhost.conf: 
SSLCertificateFile: file '/etc/ssl/apache/server.crt' does not exist or is 
empty 
 
 
Proposed fix:  
 
Put apache2 ssl certs in /etc/ssl/apache2/
