Considering that each zope release is tested and requires a specific python version (2.2.3 for 2.7.0b1) is this a good idea? (not that I'd ever consider deploying zope through an rpm but..)
i have forced the installation, it worked fine, two weeks ago. I guess that python2.3 is still compatible.
It *seems* to work fine is one thing, is tested and "certified" (for lack of a better word) in another. The release page says clearly that it requires python 2.2.3 (as zope 2.6.x requires python 2.1.3). Ask on the zope mailing list and you'll get the same answer: you have to use the python version specified, otherwise you won't get much help if you have problems.
but, 2.70b2 is out, but i did not update this, it was too complex. maybe a quick look trough changelog will say if it work or not ?
Nope, the changelog doesn't mention any fix/compatibility test with any other python versions.
