I just reconfirmed with RC2. The system still hands during an install, as noted in the
ticket.

Hi there,

When attempting to install the latest beta on my Sony VAIO SR7K, the system hangs just
after it states it is initializing PCMCIA cards. I'm using Sony's PCMCIA CD-ROM drive,
which has some unusual feature where the VAIO accesses it directly. As I understand
it, probing for PCMCIA cards messes up this special mode that the CD-ROM is in, so the
system hangs.

This is the same behavior as in version 9.1. There is a workaround that I can use to
get the system to install, by giving the kernel options "expert noauto
ide2=0x180,0x386" but Mandrake then doesn't install and configure PCMCIA, which leaves
the system useless. I also believe that 9.1 doesn't allow me to manually specify
whether the PCMCIA system gets installed or not.

Version 9.0 didn't have this problem. I just reinstalled it yesterday, and it installs
smoothly. I would love to have 9.2 install just as smoothly.
