------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-16-09 17:52 ------- I just reconfirmed with RC2. The system still hands during an install, as noted in the ticket. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: Hi there, When attempting to install the latest beta on my Sony VAIO SR7K, the system hangs just after it states it is initializing PCMCIA cards. I'm using Sony's PCMCIA CD-ROM drive, which has some unusual feature where the VAIO accesses it directly. As I understand it, probing for PCMCIA cards messes up this special mode that the CD-ROM is in, so the system hangs. This is the same behavior as in version 9.1. There is a workaround that I can use to get the system to install, by giving the kernel options "expert noauto ide2=0x180,0x386" but Mandrake then doesn't install and configure PCMCIA, which leaves the system useless. I also believe that 9.1 doesn't allow me to manually specify whether the PCMCIA system gets installed or not. Version 9.0 didn't have this problem. I just reinstalled it yesterday, and it installs smoothly. I would love to have 9.2 install just as smoothly.
