I have a system using a VIA VT8235 integrated sound chip set and earlier I had
it working fine in Mandrake 9.2RC1 but it kept having a problem where Kmix
would change the volumes down to 0, and for the longest time seem like it did
not work. Once I returned the volumes to their proper positions as I had them
when it worked, the system suddenly makes a crackling sound all during any
sound playback, even with the ALSA drivers. It can't be a hardware issue,
since it works fine in Windows, but I can't figure out why it is doing this
just now.
