Weird that kooka gives such a message. Could you tell the output of: rpm -qa
|grep sane
If scanimage -L runs, all software that's needed is installed afaik...
Also, what model is it exactly? And is it listed as supported on:
http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/gt68xx-backend/
Further, could you provide debug output by running:
export SANE_DEBUG_GT68XX=255
scanimage -L > gt68xx-debug 2>&1
Then could you attach the gt68xx-debug file in bugzilla?
