command host at command line yeilds "x-1-6-00-26-54-0e-85-64"
command dh* yeilds "bash: /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient -eth0.leases: permission denied"
will log in as root and report if that makes any difference...
Ran command dh* as SU. Same response. denied. Let me really try that as root.

using mandrake 9.2RC2 whose download page list this as containing gnome 2.3.5.
That number sequence looks like one in the boot sequence.
warning suggests adding that number to ect/hosts. Added it in but the same
warning pops up. I do not know the conventions for hosts.
