------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-22-09 00:13 ------- a previous bug was reported some weeks ago, One has found that a program drak?????? was touching files at each reboot, so /lib/modules/$KRN/modules.dep was older, and depmod -A was running fully. A fix was done a few days after, but it seems tat the bug is back ? sorry but I can't find back the reference to the bug... -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: After modifying rc.sysinit, my system (PIII 650 @ 728 with SCSI disk) boots 15 seconds faster. depmod is run every time the computer boots, while there is a "cache" in modules.dep. If this file isn't outdated, there is no need to run depmod. I replaced depmod -A with: KRN=`uname -r`;if (( `find /lib/modules/$KRN/ -cnewer /lib/modules/$KRN/modules.dep | wc -l` != 0 )); then depmod -A; fi This might need some finetuning (maybe the existence of modules.dep should be checked) but I think the idea is clear.
