It has nothing to do with spec files.  It has specifically to do with
your local RPM configuration.  On my system, I usually have no need to
build i[34]86 packages and translate any attempt to target to those
archs to i586.  But, when I rebuilt several Mandrake packages for an
old 486/120, I simply commented out my buildarchtranslate lines in
~/.rpmrc and they built exactly as requested.
