I'm glad this had been narrowed down. What do you reckon the problem is with harddrake, something to do with the floppy??? When I boot with acpi=off, I get an error saying that insmod i810_audio does not work; when i boot with acpi=on, i810_audio loads fine but then i get bug 4944.
