It is unrelated to fonts-ttf-west_european.
The problem was the non installation of the XFree86-75dpi-fonts package due to a
problem in the package selection before install in RC.
it's fixed now
(note also that it only was a concern for programs using old X11 font technology;
programs and toolkits using Xft/fontconfig are able to pick any available font
and display it nicely, then don't rely on some bitmap fonts with hardwired font
names)
