I just posted to bug 1894 which I think is similar.
This problem DOES still exist in 9.2 RC2

It occurs when:
 - a package is selected which has dependencies
 - the Dependencies list pop-up window appears
 - the user selects OK before the information box (hidden
under the pop-up window), has refreshed with the information
   from the package in question.

Since the pop-up box is immediate and the information box can take up to 15
seconds to update, it is very easy to jam the system this way if you are
clicking packages you know you want installed! This one definitely needs
fixing!

If one of these packages where selected 'individually' the installer would hang for a
while and then (after some mindless clicking on things) the installer would go back
one
step to the package-group selector:
- frosenbubbles
- kdevelop
- openssh_server
- automake
- gcc-c++
