OK. I should have had the patience to let the install complete and check the direct dependencies before writing my previous post. After actually completing the install (and updating from Cooker), doing multiple reboots, I haven't seen a bootsplash image a singe time, even though I haven't done anything to achieve it. Maybe it's because I didn't let 9.2 b2 install a bootloader, but added a new entry for 9.2 in /boot/grub/menu.lst on my Mandrake 9.1 partition?
