I installed Mandrake 9.2 rc2 to Dell D600 laptop and updated it to cooker. I updated everything except kernel with the urpmi to current cooker level. (I simply forgot to update kernel)
If I now try to boot Linux (normal of failsafe) I will get following text before everything freezes:
Resume Machine: Rhis is normal swap space
Ramdisk: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
Freeing initrd memory: 351k freed
Swsusp 1.0.3: kswsuspd starting
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:05My root file system is ReiserFS and if I boot from the gentoo live cd, I can mount this partition. If I then go to the boot menu I will see symlinks pointing to kernel version 2.4.22-6mdk.
Is there any methods how I could try to update the kernel in my Linux by hand to newest Mandrake kernel? (Or try some other fixes)
Mika
