I have exactly the same setup as you and this problem happens since 8.1 (yes i wrote 8.1 ...) with all nvidia flavors when i booted with framebuffer. If i remove the framebuffer boot, this behaviour doesn't appear. The reason why you don't see it is because you reboot too often. With uptimes of 60/70 days on my machines (same hardware running different Mandrakes) i see it systematically after a 'while' not easy to quantificate ... I discussed with Warly about 2 years ago, and its conclusion was to disable the frame buffer boot. At that time i attributed it to the SGI 20" monitor i use, but it seems it is more nvidia's specific than SGI ... I hope it helps. Stef --
