Although you can open the application window just fine. Straw cannot resolve domain names. (I.e., it cannot turn domain names into IP addresses.) As a test, I found one website that wasn't using named-virtual-hosting -- namely www.gnomedesktop.com -- and replaced it's domain name with it's IP address to see if that would allow Straw to work. And it did. This modification made it so Straw could pull down it's RSS feed. (In other words, I changed "http://www.gnomedesktop.com/backend.php"; to "http://216.120.195.26/backend.php"; and it worked.) So... having said that, it seems that the problem may be related to the "adns" package. Or the "python" bindings to "adns". Or Straw's use of those bindings.
