I have better idea than to dump the newbie to XFdrake (that is finally a security risk, since the tool runs as root - i.e. you reboot, X fails, XFdrake runs, you are away from the machine and somebody screws your computer in the meantime).
Why not put a message into /etc/issue saying to run XFdrake ? It will display on the console, so the newbie gets the idea to do it. It is trivial change and will fix the issue.
