Bero is the main developer of the dvdrtools package. The reason for the fork, is that cdrtools is weirdly licenced. One branch is GPL, while the other (the "official" branch that supports DVD writing support) is propreitary and closed, yet includes patches from the GPL branch. If MDK is truely aiming at having only open tools, then you should include this instead of cdrtools. This eliminates a potentially "grey" solution. - -- Gary L.
