This must be a lesstif problem. I've tried to downgrade lesstif to 0.93.36-2mdk
(the version from 9.1) and the problem seems to go away, at least I can click
the menu after closing the tip of the day window.

Actually, it looks like it becomes unresponsive as soon as another window is
opened. For example, when the toolbar opens, the main window stops
responding. If I select the option that causes the tool buttons to be
displayed in the main window, everything is ok until I try to attach to a
process, after which the main window becomes unresponsive.
