/usr/bin/update-menus from package menu constantly changes file associations.
To reproduce this bug:
1) in KDE, right click on any file; for this purpose let's use an *.avi" file,
2) choose "Open with", and then, "other...",
3) choose an aplication to open this file with; for this purpose, we would
choose "/usr/bin/mplayer -vo sdl".
4) from now on, any double-clicked avi-movie would be open with
"/usr/bin/mplayer -vo sdl", which is perfectly OK.
5) log out from KDE, and then log in again. Your carefully crafted file
associations are lost, as if you've never done steps 1-4 above... :(
