I thought that it was related to the disk filling up, but I was just guessing.
If it happens again then I'll try to boot to runlevel 3 as you suggest. I
would like to split the /var partition off of the / partition. Any advice on
how to do that?

Unfortunately I deleted them so that I could get the machine working again.
What I could try is restarting the services and keeping an eye on those files.
If they show up and start growing again then I can kill the services and send
you part of the logs.

I assume that you meant lspci?
Here's the output.
[root@sparky httpd]# lspci
pcilib: Cannot open /proc/bus/pci
lspci: Cannot find any working access method.
[root@sparky httpd]#

Should I be trying something else or does that indicate that there are no PCI
devices?

One other thing here. The clock can't seem to keep the date and time
correctly. I don't know if this is just a low battery or if it's a software
issue, but I suspect it's software because I didn't notice it until I started
playing around with these betas. I'm going to try to keep a closer eye on when
it is that it loses time - it may be that it's only when it's turned off and if
that's the case then I suppose it may very well be the battery.

I'll restart those services and watch the logs. Let me know how to proceed
from the lspci thing.
Thanks.
