Just yesterday spent $29.99 on a retail box L-M 7.1 and i have a few
comments.

1 the ide detect croaks completely if i don't have a drive connected to
hdb (normal config)
2 you can not not install a boot loader (choosing none loops after LILO
scribbles over the boot record)
3 Grub install on my system didn't (guess Grub blew up finding a boot
magic mbr)
4 Xfree86 4.0 install didn't wait for correct settings (i have an s3
chipset and an old PB monitor)
5 on my second install after deselecting ALL packages it took an hour to
install 250 megs of files
6 i have a 2.4.0test2 kernel installed and it messed up my net modules
(going to recomp anyway but...)

a suggestion maybe what should be done is have a seperate mode for
"Possibly current mandrake users needing to
Lockpick to fix problems". What you could do is ask for the location of
the Root and then find the RPM database from that info and work from
there starting with "do you need to just fix mangled settings?"

side note trying to make the version.h file doesn't work anybody know of
a "extract the info from version.h and print to stdout program"

btw since i have a "funny setup" fixing my system required both the BM
panic disk and my ZipSlack disk

system info P75 running hda win98se hdb not present hdc win98on lower
half LM on upper hdd ide cdrom
Boot Magic installed primary bootloader with LILO cascade on hdc two
Creative labs modems and a SoundBlaster 16 PNP
none of which Harddrake sees and a Hauppage TV card that makes HD go
HUH??
