I cannot agree - sorry. Here's why, referrring to your 20000708
RPMs:
The K menu just disappears sporadically.
Sound does not work.
If the last entry in a Konqueror detailed list is a directory,
clicking on that entry is ignored, ie you cannot get into that
directory.
Konqueror cannot handle far too many web sites, including, but not
limited to, secure sites.
Desktop icons are not loaded about 50% of the time.
The first Shutdown never works - it takes two.
Bringing up KDE2 and shutting it down is too bumpy a process - the
background and windows are redrawn multiple times at different
vertical offsets. There can be no need for this behaviour.
kdf shows false error dialog boxes for all mount and umount
operations.
Incompatibilities with KDE1:
KDE1 used the theme appropriate to the current user when displaying
windows. This way you can always know what user you are. KDE2
totally ignores this valuable protection - running as superuser does
not change the window decorations! IMO, dropping of any KDE1 feature
or behaviour is a show-stopper.
Summary: 20000708 KDE2 is far from being ready enough for what you
propose.
