I'm now requiring {_bindir}/f77.

I wasn't so much talking about that specfic problem anymore, I just wanted
to know if I can require one or the other package. Lets say that I wanted
to write a spec file which would require KDE *OR* GNOME (I know, doesn't
make sense, but anyway). What I'd like to be able to write is:

Requires: KDE | GNOME

And then RPM should be happy if either or both of KDE *OR* GNOME is
installed; IOW: it should bitch if none is installed.

So if I understood you correctly, my problem can only be solved if both
packages have a line:

Provides: fortran

and then I'd write

Requires: fortran

Correct?

But actually I'm much more interested in the question of my 2nd paragraph.
