Background: PCI ethernet rtl8139
PCI Creative Riva TNT2 Vanta

I opted for a customized install with only KDE2 and Gnome, and clicked
for individual packages.
When I checked KDE I noticed that nearly nothing was to be installed, so
I fixed it by opting for everything.
During installation the program could not install the LAN:=> Can't
locate method "setup_thiskind" via package "install_steps_gtk".
XFdrake faked my videoram as yesterday: Set to 4096 and hashed out.
Manually changed this to 32768 and could get in as root - not as user.
Ended up in Gnome, and started Kword. Closed it by clicking at the
boarder and got a core dump.
Used redhats linuxconf to install my ethernet card, and got out (this is
still as root).
Launched Lyx but nothing happened.
I like KDE2 but could not get more than 4 desktops!
