I don't remember the exact details, but after it encountered that problem it
wouldn't let me commit that partition configuration to disk and/or create an
additional partition in the left over disk space.

The good news is that I rsynched from
rsync://rsync.proxad.net/mandrake-devel an hour ago and used hd.img from
ftp://sunsite.uio.no/pub/unix/Linux/Mandrake-devel/ dated Saturday,
September 02, 2000 9:08:00 PM, and this had no problems with partitioning
and resizing the partitions.  So I guess the problem is fixed!
