I just resynched cooker about half an hour ago and made a floppy from
the pcmcia.img file to boot on my laptop. This is the result:

in second stage install

Does anyone know why this is happening? Something seems wonky with
the pcmcia install. I haven't had a chance to download the ISO's so I
haven't tried those yet.

FYI, the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 2230CDS, Celeron 500, 32MB RAM,
6GB HDD, a Linksys 10/100 pcmcia ethernet card. That's about all
that's of interest (it also has an onboard soundcard and modem). 7.1
installed fine on it, booting off the CD-ROM but I thought I'd try the
pcmcia network install.
